Easy Date Ideas

I'm sure the majority of us are guilty for not making enough time for our loved ones. Life gets in the way and someone always seems to crop up. You're tired, have a million things to do and let's be honest, I don't think many of us are feeling extremely flush in January.

That's okay though, dates don't have to be big grand gestures or cost a fortune. Yes, it's nice to be wined and dined but to be honest I'd rather just spend quality time with the people I love. I'm much more of a conversation over chocolates kind of girl.

One of my new years resolutions is to have for me time, doing the things I enjoy with the people I love. Even if it's once a month, it's worth doing.

Here are my top 10 easy date ideas for when life is just too busy:

1. The cinema has always been a favourite of ours. We love visiting our local Vue and watching the latest movie. It's a great conversation starter once you leave the cinema and it's nice doing something you can both enjoy.

2. Keeping in with that theme, sometimes I don't want to get dressed and just want a cosy night at home. We love Netflix and chill and in this house, it means exactly that!

3. Bowling is another favourite. Silly shoe selfies and laughing at each other when the ball goes it's own way.

4. Fruit picking, pizza making or even wine tasting. I absolutely love fruit picking in the spring and summer, cosy pizza making in the autumn and winter and well, wine tasting whenever!

5. We're (or should I say I am) very competitive and we love games nights. We quite often pull out a retro game and pass a few hours by. We bought Crash Bandicoot for the PS4 and have played it none stop. I love the game as much now as I did in the 90's.

6. Tourist attractions such as museums, art galleries or local markets. Our favourite is Beamish Museum, if you're ever in the north east, definitely visit. It's great for the whole family, regardless of age. We absolutely love it there.

7. Go on a walk or a drive. We're lucky to have the best of both worlds. We have the gorgeous countryside and beautiful beaches all within a 15 minute drive away. We also have the beautiful quayside which is lovely on an evening when the bridges are lit.

8. Baking is a love of mine. I'm not very good at it but I do like to try. I wouldn't say my other half particularly enjoys the prepping and cooking, he's more a fan of the tasting but I quite often rustle up something in the kitchen and use him as a guinea pig.

9. It's not really picnic weather at the minute but when it's a little warmer we often pack up a picnic, take Minnie with us and sit somewhere beautiful to stuff our faces.

10. We both love the theatre and often visit. We've just booked to see Cats in the summer and can't wait. Our favourite so far has been Sister Act and The Sound Of Music.

I hope these tips have helped you and inspired you to have more date days.

  1. Last weekend my husband and I went to the Cinema for the first time in what seems like forever. There is a new one in town with super comfy seats that recline and a snack bar that serves beer, wine, and some killer scotcharoos. (not that I would know, ahem!) Anyway, we saw Darkest Hour about Winston Churchill and I highly recommend it. We drove home saying "That was so much fun and need to do that more often" x

  6. My husband and I love date nights at home rather than going out. The most common date night activity would be sitting together on the couch, watching movie marathons, with a whole lot of chips and popcorn, and beer. :)

  22. Dates are always so happy!
My husband and I took a habit of going to new restaurant each month. We never go to the one we've been before but always eat same thing. It is mostly desserts because we both find it harder to follow with more regular food. But it's so much fun planning on next place to grab a dessert of the year (2018 is for carrot cake)

Great list by the way. I will add some more new activities to it
