bakerdays Review & Giveaway

I've loved bakerdays for a few years now. If you don't know the concept, you basically choose a cake from their huge range, covering everything from birthdays, babies, anniversaries, weddings, engagements, valentines day and lots more, or you can create something totally personal and just because and have it delivered to your door.

You choose the size you'd like: letterbox gift cake, small party cake, medium party cake or large party cake. I opted to review the letterbox gift cake which is priced at £14.99 and is 5''.

You then choose the flavour: traditional sponge, rich chocolate chip, gluten wheat free sponge, lemon drizzle, red velvet, dairy free sponge or fruit. The choice is yours. I went for traditional vanilla sponge.

You then personalise your cake with whatever you'd like and depending on the design you've chosen. You can even upload a photo and have that on your cake.

Valentine's Day is approaching and I'm feeling nice so I decided to gift my cake to my fiancé. I opted for something more humorous than romantic and personalised it with ''I tolerate you Darren''. I seen this design premade on the bakerdays website and it really tickled it. It's mine and my other's humour down to a T.

I chose my delivery day and waited patiently for mr postman to arrive. A few days later I checked my letterbox and there it was. A mystery brown box.. you'd never think a cake was inside (if there wasn't a bakerdays logo on it and it didn't smell of vanilla deliciousness!).

When I opened it I was pleasantly surprised. The cake was packaged in the most beautiful way. It came in this lovely little tin to keep it nice and fresh and also had balloons, candles and a party blower for that extra wow factor. I just knew my other half was going to love this.

I gave him it that night as I wanted him to try it at it's freshest (even though these cakes have an amazing shelf life of 2 weeks, who can say no to cake though? Cake never lasts 2 weeks in our home).

He laughed his head off at the design and thought it was such a good idea.

We both had 2 large servings of the cake and it was truly delicious.

The sponge was so moist and buttery but not over sickly or too sweet. It was springy to the touch and had the perfect amount of buttercream and icing ratio. I sometimes find iced cakes a little claggy and dry, this definitely wasn't.

I was so pleased with the cake and the service we received. Ordering was so easy and it arrived exactly how I'd hoped.

I love how they fit through a letterbox too, I'm definitely going to be gifting cakes from now on. It's a perfect idea when you don't know what to get someone or may not be seeing them or even just for a nice surprise. Who wouldn't be happy about having cake delivered to their door?

The only gripe I had was wanting more. These are quite small so next time I'd definitely opt for a party cake rather than a letterbox cake, that way I get more yummy cake to enjoy and can share it around for others to enjoy too.

You can see more of bakerdays unique designs and creations over on their website or via Instagram and Twitter.

The fun doesn't stop there, bakerdays are giving the chance for one of my lucky readers to win and personalise their very own letterbox gift cake just in time for Valentine's Day.

  33. How adorable are these cakes?! I have to admit, vanilla cake (with chocolate frosting) is one of my biggest weaknesses. It's true. Plus, I love the cute sayings! At our house, it would be the other way around. I think I'd have to tell my husband "Thanks Loves, for tolerating me!" (All of my dishes, and days spent at the window photographing food, and the million trips to the antique store for just the right utensils) Sure wished we lived in the U.K. because I can think of a million occasions I'd love to order one of Bakerdays cakes for. x

    Best,
